Three Extra Special Christmas Gifts

by Kathy Shelton

God's daily blessings are very special to me and for some reason those received during Christmas always seem to be EXTRA SPECIAL. Because the wise men brought three EXTRA SPECIAL gifts to Jesus I will limit telling you of only three of many I received this year. Each of these three gifts were given to me from my church family of friends. One thing that made them so special is that each was very unexpected and each blessed my heart with joy and thankfulness for the person who gave the gift.

I accidentally found one gift sitting at my front door. It was beautifully wrapped and filled with many Christmas treasures. The card inside read, “Thank you for all you do. I pray you have a very Merry Christmas.”

Another gift began with an unexpected phone call. It was a church friend inviting me to a local Christmas program. We spent the evening listening to Christmas music provided by several area churches. Our time together was so special.

The third gift was tiny in size (a 2 by 3 inch box) but its significance was huge! It was a PRAYER BOX. At first, I wasn't sure about what this gift meant, but I quickly learned that it was simply a container where I could place notes written to God. I guess you can think of it as a mailbox to God. In 1Thessalonians 5:17 the bible tells us to pray without ceasing and prayer boxes can serve as your reminder while being a tool to help you stay true to your word and deliver on those promised prayers.

Luke 1:45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
